The Keeper of Little Things

Three Shinto kami (or Japanese Gods) live in a hidden compound in Kyoto. Suzu, the cat kami, brings good fortune. Taro, the dog kami, helps families stay safe, while tiny Toyo, the rat, protects all the small overlooked creatures of the world. Life is good for Suzu and Koma whose shrines sing with care and attention. But no one visits Toyo. Until a small child finds their way in search of help for their pet hamster. And everything changes.
The Keeper of Little Things is a picture book created in collaboration with Dr Kaitlyn Ugoretz, Associate Editor of the Japanese Journal of Religious Studies at the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture, and a Smithsonian Journeys expert in Japanese religion and culture.
The story invites children to notice, cherish and respect the small animals that are so often overlooked. Exciting scavenger-hunt elements are woven throughout the illustrations to encourage discovery and repeated reading.

Unfamiliar is a magical story for anyone who has ever felt a little different. With whimsy, wonder and a pinch of magic, it explores neurodiversity, inclusion and accessibility while celebrating friendship, self-acceptance and the joy of finding belonging without having to fit in.

In a dark, atmospheric medieval world, a rodent society is divided by a rigid class system. Bats and rats prosper at the top, serving as ministers, nobles and knights, while mice and shrews labour below as peasants and serfs.
When a knight and a farmer form an unlikely alliance, their search for answers leads them deep beneath the walls of the realm. There, they uncover a sinister presence hidden from view—a mysterious being that has been manipulating the kingdom and may be the true architect of the system dividing them.
Intended for older readers, this graphic novel explores class inequality, corruption, power and complicity. Drawing inspiration from medieval history and feudal social structures, it asks what it takes to confront an order designed to serve the privileged few.
